Dow was an American television actor, film producer, director, and sculptor who was best known for his role in the television sitcom Leave It to Beaver.

His father, who passed away in 1987, was a designer and general contractor. His mother, who passed away on April 30, 2001, was a stunt woman in early Westerns. She was also Clara Bow’s movie double for Hollywood movie studios.

During his childhood, he trained as a swimmer. Due to this he later became a Junior Olympics diving champion.
